OpenID moves onwards

Great news everyone!! OpenID, something I've blogged about previously, gains new support from Microsoft and Verisign. I've been keeping an eye on OpenID for a while now and playing with it outside of work, but I think this is the point at which I'm going to seriously consider promoting it with new and established clients.

I've been using Simple OpenID PHP Class on our shared server and it seems to run really smoothly. To be honest, the other PHP classes listed on the OpenID wiki seem to suit servers where you have more control over your PHP config (or an ISP willing to provide more facilities on their servers) - something not all of us have the luxury of. I have yet to play with any other languages - Ruby next I imagine.

[UPDATE] Ermm... Janrain OpenID 2 library! :)  I've done quite a bit of work with this over the past year.

I might even get round to installing it on this blog eventually.

[UPDATE] Well, thanks to the power of the WPOpenID plugin, this blog is now OpenID enabled.

[UPDATE] My blog now runs drupal 5 with the OpenID module (amongst others).  Works wonderfully!
