Blog Migration to Drupal
Following several months working with Drupal including some contract programming work and several existing client migrations, I've decided to migrate my own blog from Wordpress.
While Wordpress is a pretty effective blogging platform, I'd always had issues with the WPOpenID plugin - which I found particularly galling as I'm actually being employed by a client to do some OpenID-related work at the moment. I know, I could have poked about with it, figured out what's wrong and submitted a fix ... but I just kept finding better things to do with my spare time.
So, with our work efforts predominantly going into Drupal at the moment, I took the plunge. The Wordpress Import module was a great help with this although I have had to go through and clean up some of the links, etc. I also took the opportunity to clear out some of my more naff posts and generally tidy things up a bit.
The only thing the Wordpress Import module didn't do was import my old Wordpress users/commenters. Admittedly there weren't too many of you, so my apologies to anyone who actually comes back here to post another comment and finds they have to re-register. On the subject of comments, I've re-enabled anonymous commenting using ReCaptcha to try and keep the spam down. I'll see how it goes for a while and keep it like that if it works. Registered users won't see the captcha form.
